According to an article in Akihabara News LG have announced a Golf GPS device that is also a phone.

Currently it is only available in Korea, not sure when or if it will be available in the US or UK.

I am not sure the LG SB210 will conform to the USGA or R&A rules for competitions as it also gives weather and wind information. Also many clubs ban the use of phones on the course during competitions. For the casual golfer who plays for fun and exercise, it would appear to fit the bill.

The SB210 will store up to 280 different golf courses (New courses will be added and pushed to the mobile) and with the help of its internal GPS and compass, the SB210 will be capable of telling you things like how many yards you are away from the green, hazards etc. just like other Golf GPS rangefinders.

Apparently the LG SB210 can tell you which club you should choose depending on your weight, age and gender! It may shatter may illusions for many that they need more club to suit them than they want to believe! Really, we can’t all hit a wedge 150 yards can we?

Thanks to it’s G-Sensor and Pedometer functions, will tell you the amount of calories you have burned during your session. So you can calculate if you need fries with that burger and how many beers you can have afterwards!

On a technical note, the SB210 features a 3” touchscreen with a 240×400 resolution, has a 3Mpix Camera with Auto-focus and 242MB of internal memory.

It will be interesting to see how it works compared to other phone apps like CaddyAid.
