Skycaddie Panel Member Jim Furyk wins Chevron World Challenge 2009
Jim Furyk, Skycaddie maker Skygolf Advisory Panel Member has won the Chevron World Challenge in Thousand Oaks California.
Furyk finished at the head of the all-star field after a close battle on the final day. He ended on 13 under-par after a second round of 67 at the weekend. He finished one shot ahead of Ireland’s Graeme McDowell who was a last minute entry, replacing tournament host Tiger Woods.
England’s Lee Westwood and Ireland’s Padraig Harrington both finished on 11 under to share third place.
This was Furyk’s first win for 28 months after 2 winless seasons on the PGA Tour. The win netted Furyk $1.3m and moved him up to number 6 in the Official World Golf Rankings. An important par save on the 17th hole after finding a deep bunker off the tee and a 5 foot birdie at the last secured victory.
More importantly for McDowell he moved back into the World Top 50 at number 38 which secures his entry into all the major tournaments for 2010.
