Garmin have announced their latest Golf GPS rangefinder the Garmin Approach G3.

Intended to be a lower range model than the Garmin Approach G5 with a MSRP of $349 compared to the G5 MSRP price of $499. With the Approach G5 available for $370 we should expect the Approach G3 to sell for around $279.

The new unit has a smaller screen 1.43″ x 2.15″ compared to 1.53″ x 2.55″ for the G5 and weighs 5.3 ounces compared to 6.8 ounces. See Golf GPS Comparison Table for more details.

Smaller Lighter

The Approach G5 is a pocket sized golf gps device that is easily transported around the course. Made to the same high specifications as the G5 it is a waterproof, rugged and durable device.

Touchscreen Display

Touch any point on the sunlight-readable display, and the Garmin Approach G3 shows the precise distance to that exact spot—fairway, hazard, landing area, or the front, middle and back of the green.

Drag the Flag into position

Garmin Approach G3 has a unique feature which helps you zero in on the pin with Approach’s Green View. Just tap the flag on the map to zoom in on the green — then you can drag the flag to position it where you see it, giving you more accurate yardage.

Digital Scorecard

For social golf, the Garmin Approach G3 doubles as a digital scorecard.  After the game, you can save and review the scores on your computer at home.

USGA Compliant GPS Unit

The Garmin Approach G3 is compliant with USGA decision 14-3/0.5 which allows a Committee to permit the use of distance-measuring devices by Local Rule.
